Municipal Arts Roundtable
What We Do
SVCREATES is building a region wide network of arts advocates for private, state, and federal investment in the arts. The Municipal Network leverages resources and civic and cultural assets within each unique local community to strengthen the arts by raising local awareness and support for the arts, learning from each other, and sharing best practices and relevant information. This is accomplished through quarterly Roundtable Luncheons, weekly newsletters, access to Content Media, and coaching.
Who We Serve
SVCREATES serves the volunteer civic leaders and municipalities of Santa Clara County in service to the arts ecosystem and the residents of Silicon Valley. Roundtable participants include arts commissioners and city staff from cities and towns throughout the county.
Why It’s Important
Art offerings, public art, and cultural engagement build community, create a sense of place, fuel small business, build 21st century skills, and foster social cohesion and creative expression. Arts organizations and artists living and working in Santa Clara County reside in one of Santa Clara County's municipalities and face the unique challenges of Silicon Valley’s high cost of living and workspaces. Working together makes us stronger as we advocate for more state and federal resources, increase local investment in the arts, and build the resilience of the arts ecosystem.
What’s Been Done
- Memos of Understanding (MOU) have been signed with over 60% of the towns/cities in the County for participation in the program.
- Quarterly Roundtables are taking place and local municipalities are connected to SVCREATES communications, events, and resources.
What’s Next
- Sign MOU with the remaining municipalities.
- Host the next quarterly Roundtable.
- Continue to support the goals and priorities of each unique Silicon Valley community.
