SoFA District Demonstration Project: Completed
In 2009, SVCREATES (then 1stACT Silicon Valley) set out to demonstrate urban design principles and activation within the SoFA District of downtown San José. Working closely with SoFA District stakeholders and KenKay and Associates, a master plan for SoFA District improvements was developed and key elements were implemented. Over $3M was invested in public murals, sidewalk seating, lighting, landscaping, banners, crosswalk art, and the renovation of Parque De Los Pobladores. And today many of these “small wonders” are being implemented throughout downtown San José under the stewardship of the San José’s Downtown Business Association.
